The hacker's handiwork KUALA LUMPUR, THURS:

THE Malaysia Today website owned by blogger Raja Petra Kamaruddin that was hacked yesterday has come online later this morning.

There was limited interactivity, however, and the last posting was dated yesterday. The comments were visibly missing although past postings could still be read, albeit the pages taking some time to load.

The site was hacked by a someone simply known as Gasakdotnet who left what appeared to be a political statement alluding to Dr Mahathir's "battle" for his country when he was prime minister from 1981 to 2003, which also includes the tagline "My Countrymen, My Fellow Malaysian."

On the site's landing page was a smiling Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad's image, dressed in army fatigues - an obvious picture alteration to the Mel Gibson movie poster “We Were Soldiers.”
