Average maintenance cost is RM542 a year, says Proton
KUALA LUMPUR: Proton maintains that the cost of maintenance for the Perdana car is reasonable. The average maintenance cost of each Perdana belonging to the Terengganu government is RM542 per annum.
In a statement here on Friday, Proton said this cost is based on the records of the 35 Terengganu state cars serviced at Proton’s authorised service dealers.
The company was responding to claims by the Terengganu government of the Perdana’s high maintenance cost.
“Generally, the typical mileage of a car under normal usage is between 20,000km and 30,000km per year. Based on this, the average total maintenance cost during this period is estimated to be RM2,300 and this cost will increase with heavier usage,” it said.
Datuk Syed Zainal Abidin Syed Mohamed Tahir, managing director of Proton Holdings on Friday said:
“We are more than willing to provide all necessary assistance to the state governments if they require clarification on issues relating to the Perdana, or any other Proton vehicles bought by them.”
