Kuala Lumpur, July 19 : Leader of Opposition in the Malaysian Parliament and de facto leader of the PRK, Anwar Ibrahim, has laid down certain conditions for undertaking a DNA test in the wake of sodomy-related accusations.

According to The Star, Anwar is insisting that the DNA process is conducted independently, professionally and without interference by the police.

Anwar's lawyer R. Sivarasa was quoted as saying that Home Minister Syed Hamid Albar offer to allow Anwar to pick his own doctors to conduct the DNA test would not solve the problem, as there was the fear that the final report of the test and samples would be tampered with.

He also said that getting a court order to force Anwar to submit to DNA testing is against Malaysian law.

However, at a function in Malacca, Anwar said he was unafraid and willing to provide DNA samples but was concerned over tampering of evidence that he claimed had befallen him 10 years ago on a similar charge.
