Ex-student leader hits out at Anwar
PETALING JAYA: A former student leader and jail mate has hit out at Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim for losing his focus as a politician and forgetting his responsibilities to the Malays.
“In 16 years with Umno, he created nothing for the Malays. He did nothing for the Malays,” said Malaysian Muslim Solidarity Movement president Datuk Zulkifli Mohamad.
Zulkifli slammed the PKR de facto leader for intending to use merit-based economic policies should he come to power.
“Rightly or wrongly jailed, upon his release, Anwar sees no future in Umno and being an ambitious man, he still wants to be the Prime Minister,” he said.
“He is very charismatic. He restructured PKR to go on a secular platform to attract more supporters,” he said yesterday, adding that Anwar, however, needs to be realistic and remember the composition of ethnic groups.
Zulkifli maintained that there was nothing wrong with the New Economic Policy although its implementation could be improved upon.
