ALOR STAR: The plan by Pakatan Rakyat to take over the Federal Government will continue even if its de facto leader Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim were to be sent to jail for allegedly committing sodomy.
Anwar said that he would not let the "false" sodomy allegation delay Pakatan's major agenda to bring about political, judiciary and socio-economic reformation.
"The changes can only happen when the government is changed.
"We are doing this for the benefit of the rakyat.
"It is not about Anwar," he said during a ceramah in conjunction with Pakatan's 100 days in power in Kedah.
Anwar had announced that Pakatan Rakyat intends to take over the government on Sept 16.
He claimed that there would be an economic catastrophe in Malaysia within the next two to three months because of stagflation as prices of goods and fuel continue to soar.
"Small-time traders will close shops, medium businesses would be adversely affected and tens of thousands of people would lose their jobs," he said.
Anwar also slammed the Government for imposing a new ruling to bar MPs from bringing guests to Parliament House effective today, claiming that the measure was a reaction to Datuk Seri Wan Azizah Wan Ismail's move to push a no-confidence vote against Prime Minister Datuk Seri Abdullah Ahmad Badawi.
Anwar vowed that if he were to be jailed again, he would continue fighting for the rakyat.
On police investigation on the alleged fresh sodomy case, Anwar hoped that they would give him "due respect" during interrogation and not bash him up as they did nine years ago.
