KUALA LUMPUR: The Umno supreme council meets at 3pm Thursday and the main topic is expected to be the transition of power.
Umno president Datuk Seri Abdullah Ahmad Badawi has said he would hand over the presidency to his deputy Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak in June 2010 or “earlier if possible.”
Party elections are in December and divisions will nominate who they want as their leader between Oct 9 and Nov 9.
Another matter expected to be discussed by the supreme council is the use of the Internal Security Act against three people recently.
Besides the Umno supreme council meeting, Opposition leader Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim is scheduled to hold a press conference at 2pm Thursday on his next move to take over the government.
