For BBC Chairman: Explain Your Involvement in Port Klang Free Zone Scandal

Police report on questionable RM1.81 billion PKA/ Westports land deal

The Port Klang Free Zone Complex at Westport, Pulau Indah. Another ‘white elephant’ in the making?

The New Straits Times (September 20, 2008) captioned its front page, REVEALED: ‘Secret Offers’ to woo BN MPs. The full report appears on page 4. The UMNO controlled paper which has been spinning and putting out outrageous stories on behalf of the Badawi government carried the comments of Datuk Seri Tiong King Sing, Barisan Nasional Backbenchers Club chairman. He alleges that “[S]ome prominent businessmen are in cahoots with the opposition to get Barisan Nasional members of Parliament to defect from the ruling coalition”.

There was also a comment by Kota Belud MP Datuk Abdul Rahman Dahlan, that a vote of no-confidence should be tabled in Parliament against Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim as Leader of the Opposition. There is, as he himself knows, no basis for such a move. The reality is that the UMNO-Barisan Nasional is doing its best to prevent Anwar Ibrahim and Pakatan Rakyat from taking over the government from lame duck Prime Minister, Abdullah Badawi by constitutional means, and denying the Malaysian people their wish to have a change in the leadership of our country.

Let us not forget that Badawi is today’s the most unpopular Prime Minister in our country’s 51 year history as an independent nation. His leadership is leading our towards the day of infamy. The New Straits Times must know that the winds of change is unstoppable and the mood of Malaysians for change is getting stronger by the day.

More importantly, both Datuk Seri Tiong King Sing and Datuk Rahman Dahlan reflect the quality and character of some of the BN parliamentarians. They lack ideas and principles; they are only motivated by money and position; democracy, freedom and justice are meaningless to them, yet these are what the Malaysian people want , and they want them urgently.

As for Datuk Seri Tiong, he should come out in the open and explain his involvement with a group of key UMNO and MCA politicians in the Port Kelang Free Zone scandal, where they made huge profits (hundreds of millions of ringgit) from the sale of land [PN 7324 nr. 67894] in Pulau Indah at the expense of a local cooperative in a convoluted deal. Exploiting the rakyat is not really help them. In my book, it is cheating the rakyat by denying them of a fair deal.
