PKR: Why Anwar unable to help then
Kota Kinabalu: Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim was unable to grant concessions to Sabah during his tenure as Deputy Prime Minister as he was not in the position to do so, said a Parti Keadilan Rakyat (PKR) leader, Friday.
The party's State deputy chairman, Daniel John Jambun said Anwar's promises of greater autonomies and concessions to Sabah and Sarawak if he becomes the Prime Minister was not a political gimmick as claimed by Chief Minister Datuk Seri Musa Aman recently.
"If Anwar is winning support because of his declared intentions and pledges, either in his speech or in the party's manifesto, then if he lies and backs off the repercussions on his integrity would be obvious,," he said in a statement.
Daniel said the Chief Minister should instead concentrate on resolving a host of issues troubling the State such as illegal immigrants, poverty, escalating food prices as well as land issues.
He urged Musa to also look into the plight of villages in the Inanam and Penampang area, which despite their proximity with the State capital are still lacking basic amenities such as proper roads, water and electricity.
