Anwar: Don't force me to retaliate

BUTTERWORTH: Parti Keadilan Rakyat adviser Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim has threatened to respond in kind if his opponents continued to make personal attacks against him.

He issued the warning in response to reports alleging that he had harassed a deputy minister's wife several years ago.

"I was in the government for a long time. If I were to bring up personal issues, there will be no end.

"That's why I give this warning to them: do not push me to the stage where I am forced to lose my temper and retaliate."

He made the statement in response to questions on the allegations at a press conference with former Gerakan central committee member Datuk Dr Toh Kin Woon.

Anwar said he was also considering suing the deputy minister. "If it's true that this person's wife was disturbed, make a police report. Don't play politics."
