RM11m for charity from late tycoon
16 April, 2008TAWAU: The family of the late Tan Sri Lau Gek Poh, a prominent tycoon here, has announced a whopping RM11 million contribution to charitable organisations.
"Details of the contribution, including the beneficiaries, would be disclosed later," he said at the family's bereavement dinner here on Monday.
A well-known philanthropist, Lau passed away at Prince Court Medical Centre in Kuala Lumpur on April 4 at the age of 92.
The late Lau was the founder and chairman of Gek Poh Holdings, the controlling shareholder of Hap Seng Consolidated Bhd and Malaysian Mosaics Bhd.
