ANWAR ENTITLED TO HAVE COPY OF POLICE REPORT OF SODOMY AGAINST HIM, SAYS SYED HAMID

Bernama - Friday, August 15

PUTRAJAYA, Aug 14 (Bernama) -- Parti Keadilan Rakyat (PKR) advisor Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim, who has been charged with sodomy, is entitled to have a copy of the pertinent police report made against him, Home Minister Datuk Seri Syed Hamid Albar said today.

He said he did not know why a copy of the report had not been handed to Anwar although he had been charged.

"According to the law, he is entitled to have a copy of the police report to enable him to prepare his defence.

"I do not know. You have to ask those handling the case for the answer. I am only the Home Minister and am not involved in the investigation and prosecution," he said when asked why Anwar had yet to be given a copy of the police report.

Anwar was charged on Aug 7 with sodomising his former aide, Mohamad Saiful Bukhari Azlan. He pleaded not guilty and was released on a personal bond of RM20,000 without surety.
