PEKAN: The concept of Bangsa Malaysia will be a reality if all races respect one another, Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak said.

He said all citizens who were born in the country had rights and feelings which must be respected.

“We must watch our words, language and conversation so as not to offend the feelings of others.

“Let’s show the world how Malaysia, despite its diversity, can live together under one roof in a peaceful and harmonious atmosphere,” he said Saturday in his speech during the launch of the Peramu Jaya 3 Rukun Tetangga scheme here.

Najib, who is also Pekan MP, said the coming National Day celebrations was a good time to reflect the country’s achievements.

He said it took many years and sacrifices to build the country into what it is today; yet just one spark could destroy it.

“If we look around, we can see many other countries are in a state of chaos because they do not know how to manage their independence.

“As such, we must make sure our past sacrifices and achievements are not in vain,” he said.

Najib said the people must respect the rule of law and not participate in acts detrimental to the country’s peace and security.

“Rioting or demonstrating without a permit, for example, is not part of our culture.

“Instigating the people and behaving emotionally too are not good,” he said, adding that all these unhealthy elements could result in the country’s downfall.

Najib urged all politicians including those from the Opposition to adhere to the rule of law so that the country’s peace and security would not be jeopardised.

What a bloody joke. He drew the kris and said Chinese blood would flow, and now he says to respect one another.
