The Anwar-Najib Bollywood

The Anwar-Najib Bollywood
5 July, 2008

Private Detective Balasubramaniam Perumal withdrew his sworn statement and replaced it with a clean version. The new version did not mention about Datuk Seri Najib Tun razak, sexual relations and the US$500 000 commission deals for the purchase of the Scorpene submarines. Balasubramaniam made the stunning reversal less than 24 hours after the first declaration.

Besides, it was completely different from the press conference the day before in which he answered all the questions with full emotions. This time, he left the place right after leaving the sworn statement.

What was the reason behind his inconsistency?

Let's use our own imagination.

"What should Najib do as it could not help even after he withdrew the statement?"

My imagination brought me to another context. If the private detective could withdraw his sworn statement, then can Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim's former aide Mohd Saiful Bukhari Azlan, who filed the sodomy complaint, change his mind?

Try to imagine that Saiful holds a press conference one day and says:

“Oh, I was not sodomised actually. In fact, I've eaten too much of durians. As you all know, it is now the durian season, so I bought many. I can't sleep after I ate the durians, so I watched three pornographic movies.

“When I got up the next day, I had a poor excretion with bleeding anal. Thus I thought I was sodomised.

“Sigh, it was only a false alarm. No, there was no sodomy. I'm sorry. I'm sorry for frightening everyone.”

Similarly, private detective Balasubramaniam can say: “Bollywood detective movies involving politics, money and sex are now a trend.

“Therefore, I imagined myself as big movie star Shahrukh Khan as a preparation to join Bollywood. ”

The reality is not an imagination. Perhaps he had personal difficulties to withdraw his statement and he should made it clear.

The first sworn statement shocked the country and he could not just leave like that, assuming nothing has happened before.

Should the police investigate the first statement? Should the court consider the new statement? Should he bear moral and legal responsibilities? How could he withdraw his statement just like that?

Moreover, the sworn statement has caused serious damages to Najib's reputation and status. What should Najib do as it could not help even after he withdrew the statement?

Perhaps, Najib should take legal actions on Balasubramaniam to clear his name. (By TAY TIAN YAN/ Translated by SOONG PHUI JEE/ Sin Chew Daily)
